About Syncari
Syncari is an Agentic MDM platform. It connects the systems a company already runs (CRM, ERP, HR, support, finance, and custom applications), unifies their records into one governed data model, and syncs the clean result back to every connected system in near real time. Customers use it to fix data quality at the source, keep systems in agreement, and give analytics and AI a reliable foundation.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Customer Engineering organization. You will work directly with customers, take their business use cases, and turn them into working Syncari solutions. Much of that is configuration: data model design, entity pipelines, match and merge rules, sync setup. Some of it is not. When a customer’s system has no connector, when an API misbehaves, or when a transformation is too complex for built-in functions, you write the code. That means custom connectors, Python functions inside Syncari, SQL for validation and reporting, and standalone scripts that move files or data where the platform does not reach yet.
You own technically complex customer use cases from discovery through production. You combine Syncari configuration with custom engineering, make sound architectural decisions, and turn what you learn into reusable capabilities and product improvements.
What You’ll Do
- Run business and technical discovery with customers and turn the results into a data model and solution design in Syncari.
- Design the data model first: entities, fields, keys, relationships, match and survivorship rules. Most downstream problems trace back to a weak model, so this is where you spend real time.
- Build end to end in Syncari: connectors, entity pipelines, Merge Studio rules, Synapse Studio configuration, testing, deployment, and handoff.
- Write custom connectors for systems Syncari does not yet support, working from the vendor’s API documentation and handling authentication, pagination, rate limits, incremental synchronization, reconciliation, and safe recovery after partial failures.
- Write Python custom functions inside Syncari and standalone Python services around it: file ingestion and routing (for example SharePoint via Microsoft Graph), batch loads, retry with backoff, data quality fixes.
- Build custom solutions with version control, appropriate automated tests, secure credential handling, useful logging, and clear deployment and support documentation.
- Write SQL inside Syncari and against customer databases for validation, duplicate detection, reconciliation, and reporting. The bar is correct, maintainable queries that perform well on realistic data volumes.
- Debug across the stack: authentication and permissions, file handling, API constraints, and transformation failures. A 403 on a delegated token or a locked file on an upload session should not stop you for long. Find the cause, fix it, write it down.
- Act as a trusted advisor on how to use Syncari to meet concrete business outcomes, and say clearly when Syncari is not the right tool for a piece of the problem.
- Explain business, technical, and architectural choices to audiences ranging from operators to senior IT.
- Own escalations and blockers. Pull in Product and Engineering when the platform itself needs to change, and prioritize product feedback that improves the customer experience.
- Turn one-off solutions into reusable patterns: templates, scripts, connector packages, and written guidance that other engineers and customers can use.
- Lead or join customer calls during US business hours (see Practical details for the required overlap).
What You Bring
- 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role delivering data integration, MDM, or data engineering solutions.
- Strong Python. You have written production code that calls APIs, handles failures, and processes files and records at volume. Scripts and services, not only notebooks.
- Strong SQL. You write correct, maintainable queries (CTEs, window functions, deduplication logic) and know how they perform on realistic data volumes, on PostgreSQL or a comparable database.
- Data modeling is critical. You can take a messy set of business entities spread across several systems and design a unified model with sensible keys, survivorship, and relationships, and you can explain why you made each choice.
- Deep comfort with REST APIs: OAuth 2.0 and other authentication flows, delegated versus application tokens, pagination, rate limiting, idempotency, and investigating undocumented API behavior and reconciling documentation with observed responses.
- Experience building custom integrations or connectors from scratch, not only configuring prebuilt ones in middleware such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Workato, or Zapier.
- Hands-on with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite, Oracle Fusion, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, or similar ERP, CRM, and HR platforms.
- Experience with data migration, transformation, and data quality work in enterprise environments.
- Clear communicator. You can walk a business operator through a design and walk senior IT through a security review.
- Calm and methodical under pressure. Customer deadlines are real, and you work the problem instead of guessing.
- Comfortable in a small company. You work independently, make practical tradeoffs, and build maintainable solutions under real constraints.
- Bachelor’s in CS or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience on an MDM platform (Reltio, Informatica MDM, Profisee, or similar).
- Microsoft Graph API, especially SharePoint and Excel file handling.
- SSO and identity provider integrations (Auth0, Okta) and user provisioning flows.
- MongoDB, Google Cloud logging and monitoring, or similar operational tooling.
- Experience using LLM-based classification or routing inside data pipelines.
- Domain exposure to manufacturing, financial services, or B2B SaaS data.
- Node.js or another language beyond Python.
Why Syncari?
- A small Customer Engineering team with direct access to Product and Engineering, and the autonomy to decide how a customer problem gets solved.
- We work with CIOs, CDAOs, and data-forward leaders at some of the most innovative companies on the planet.
- Our tech is category-defining: Agentic MDM, patented multi-directional sync, and a unified data plane that activates AI at the source.
- As a Forward Deployed Engineer you see the hardest customer problems first, and what you build shapes the product.
What Success Looks Like
Success means customers have reliable solutions running in production, clear ownership after handoff, and measurable progress against their business goals. Your work also leaves behind reusable connectors, patterns, and product improvements that make subsequent deployments easier.
Final compensation (base, variable, and equity) will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
