“I’m going to build this product in a way that ensures customers can take their data and share it with every other application and data source in their environment without issue.” – said no sane product manager, ever.
Got data silo pains? You are not alone. Every organization struggles with a lack of data unification and interoperability across the tech stack. It’s an unintended consequence of the accelerated adoption of SaaS and cloud data sources. The products we buy weren’t built to speak to one another out of the box. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Integration isn’t the right approach
First, some bad news. Your existing approach to breaking down these data silos is woefully inadequate. But hey, it’s not your fault. Until recently, integration was really your only option. You could integrate your apps together directly using APIs from a vendor or connectors from an integration solution and create a brittle architecture that struggles to adapt when schemas change or new systems come online. Or, you could ETL or ELT all your data into a central repository like a Master Data Management solution or a cloud data warehouse. And then re-integrate it back out to where it’s needed to run your business.
While these integration-centric approaches may allow you to see more of your data in one place, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who has taken these approaches and ended up with clean, consistent, interoperable data across their entire tech stack. You can read more about why this doesn’t work in my blog about the limitations of ELT and reverse ETL.
The path to data unification and interoperability
Syncari was built to solve this pressing and pervasive need. With our complete data automation platform, customers are breaking down data silos, unifying data across systems with ease, and syncing clean, complete data across their data stack automatically and reliably. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Configure your intelligent Syncari Synapses
Unlocking data with Syncari is simple and secure. Input your credentials (username, password, token) and Syncari will create a deep connection to your end systems. Syncari Synapses securely access data and metadata, monitor for data changes, automatically manage schema updates and system outages and work continuously to keep all systems in sync as better data emerges.
Step 2: Decide your unification criteria
With newfound access to your cross-system data and meta-data you now have the ability to map entities from every system to Syncari’s unified data model. In the visual below, we are mapping NetSuite customers, Hubspot companies and Salesforce accounts to the Syncari account entity based on a shared domain (e.g. syncari.com) and then syncing that now unified data back out to the operational systems. All this is done without writing a single line of code.
Mobilize, for example, fully unified Salesforce, Hubspot, and Zendesk in 30 days and realized 5x ROI in just 6 months through better targeting and personalized outreach by all customer-facing teams.
Step 3: Explore cross-system data centrally
Your data is now unified! You can now explore and interact with previously fragmented data directly within Syncari. The example below shows 100 unique records from Salesforce, NetSuite, and Hubspot being unified into 100 unique, complete records in Syncari. From Data Studio, you can actually see how the data stitching was done using the unique IDs of the cross-functional records to avoid the creation of 300 records.
The best part: now a data change in any of your systems (or made directly in Syncari) will be automatically synced across every connected system in accordance with your governance rules and policies. This is data automation.
Step 4: Visualize data using Syncari’s built-in operational data hub
The same unified data you explored inside of Syncari can also be accessed through our operational data hub that aligns data across systems and drastically improves data-driven decision-making for our customers. Simply request your Data Store credentials and provide them to a BI tool of your choice (we’re using the open-source Metabase below) and keep your BI and operational dashboards in sync with trusted, consistent data.
